Do You Really Need a ฿15,000 Blood Panel to Personalise Your Supplements?

Personalised guidance should not cost more than the supplements. You usually do not need an expensive blood panel or premium subscription just to start taking the right supplements. A thoughtful assessment can identify most of what shapes your needs — and help you avoid paying for things you did not need.

MattaNutra's Take

Personalisation should begin with a focused assessment, not a large bill. A strong questionnaire can tell you what is likely useful, what is likely unnecessary, and when a blood test would genuinely change the decision.

What you are actually paying for

Premium testing can be valuable when it answers a specific medical question. But for starting supplement personalisation, many people are paying for the doorway rather than the answer.

Common money mistake

Spending thousands on a broad panel, then still guessing which supplements to buy. The smarter goal is to reduce both over-testing and over-buying.

Where supplement money quietly disappears

Over-testing

A broad panel can cost ฿5,000–15,000 or more before it changes a single supplement decision.

Over-buying

Many bottles are purchased because a friend, influencer or gym buddy suggested them — not because they fit.

Assessment-first

A good questionnaire captures diet, symptoms, sleep, stress, medications, goals and life stage for a fraction of the cost.

Test when it matters

Bloodwork still matters for iron/ferritin, B12, vitamin D, symptoms, pregnancy, medications or health conditions.

Are you about to overpay?

Tap yes/no. This is educational, not medical advice.

Are you considering a ฿5,000–20,000 panel mainly to choose supplements?

Do you already have persistent symptoms, a condition, pregnancy, or medication concerns?

Would a focused assessment help you decide what to take — and what to skip?

What MattaNutra means by affordable personalisation

Not cheap guesses. Structured guidance that keeps testing and supplements in proportion.

Assessment before expense

Start with the decision

MattaNutra begins by asking what would actually change your formula: diet, sleep, stress, symptoms, current supplements, medications, goals and life stage. That comes before paying for a broad panel.

Thailand cost reality

A wall, not a doorway

In Thailand, “know your body” options can quickly become expensive: clinic panels commonly reach thousands of baht, elite wellness packages can go far higher, and subscriptions can cost several thousand baht monthly before supplements.

Honest escalation

Bloodwork is not rejected

Testing is recommended when it earns its place — especially iron/ferritin, B12, vitamin D, persistent symptoms, pregnancy, medications or known medical conditions.

The 30-second answer

You do not need an expensive blood panel or premium subscription to start taking supplements more intelligently. A thoughtful assessment can identify most of what shapes your needs — diet, symptoms, sleep, stress, medications, life stage and goals — for a fraction of the cost.

The saving is not just a discount. It is not paying for things you did not need: unnecessary tests, duplicate ingredients, and bottles that end up half-used in a drawer.

Where the money usually goes

In Thailand, the “know your body” path is often priced for a small minority. Premium hospital executive check-ups can run tens of thousands of baht, with some packages far higher. Typical clinic panels may sit around ฿5,000–15,000, while elite wellness or longevity packages can reach ฿15,000–20,000 or more.

Those options can be useful for medical check-ups. But they should not be the mandatory entrance fee for simply learning which supplements are most likely to fit.

RouteWhat it givesWhen it makes sense
Focused assessmentPattern-based supplement guidanceBest first step for most people
Large blood panelBiomarker dataBest when results change the plan
Subscription-first modelRecurring guidance/product flowUseful only if ongoing adjustment is needed
Two ways guessing quietly costs you

First: over-buying. Many people buy supplements without a measured deficiency, clear intake gap or safety check. That leads to half-used bottles, duplicate ingredients, and “wellness clutter.”

Second: over-testing. A large panel can feel serious, but it may not change the starting supplement decision. If a good assessment would have got you safely started, the extra panel becomes cost — not clarity.

What the research says about questionnaire-level personalisation

The Food4Me randomized controlled trial compared generic healthy-eating advice with personalised advice based on diet, diet plus blood biomarkers, or diet plus biomarkers plus genetics. Personalised advice improved behaviour more than generic advice.

The striking part: adding blood biomarkers or genetics did not produce additional benefit over personalisation based on diet and lifestyle alone.

The honest line: when to still get tested

This is not a reason to skip your medical check-up. Get medical testing when your health needs it. Bloodwork is worth it when the result will genuinely change your plan — especially for iron and ferritin, B12 and vitamin D, or when symptoms, medications, pregnancy or a health condition are involved.

Some routine blood values also have limits. Serum magnesium, for example, may not fully reflect total body magnesium status.

The MattaNutra difference

MattaNutra begins with a focused assessment, not a bill. The Right Amount Formula is ฿690 — a one-time answer you can act on. If you want your plan to adapt as life changes, Living Protocol is ฿1,590 for 90 days, with food-first guidance and safety checks.

Either way, you are paying for the answer — not for an expensive gateway to it.

The short answer

You should not need to spend ฿5,000–20,000 to start personalising your supplements. A good assessment gets most people most of the way for a fraction of the price, and it can steer you away from the money you would otherwise waste guessing. Use bloodwork when it will genuinely change the plan — especially for iron, B12, vitamin D, symptoms, medications, pregnancy or health conditions.
